Newsreaders

Software used to download files from Usenet is called a “newsreader”. You may also hear it referred to as a Usenet client or Usenet software. The basic premise of a newsreader is that it allows you to download files from Usenet using the NNTP protocol. This is similar to how you need an email client to access email (POP/SMTP) and a BitTorrent client to download using the BitTorrent protocol.
